Vancouver Clinic - Collaborative Optometry / Ophthalmology Surgeon Extender

At Vancouver Clinic, caring for people is our first priority and the driving force behind everything we do. New clinicians will find a collegial, supportive, and caring environment of healthcare professionals committed to our patients and community. Our multispecialty clinic is physician owned, which prioritizes the highest quality patient care and a strong work-life balance.

We are eager and ready to hire another optometrist to join our growing practice. The new clinician will join the largest group of eyecare providers in Southwest Washington. Our ophthalmology department consists of three optometrists and five ophthalmologists including subspecialists in glaucoma, pediatrics and oculoplastics.

This is a unique and exciting position which will involve working side-by-side in the clinic with our two comprehensive ophthalmologists in order to extend their services. We want all our clinicians practicing to the full scope of their license and this position provides the best of integrated eyecare. We anticipate that roughly half of the schedule will involve routine, post-operative care of cataract and glaucoma patients. The remaining clinical time will be spent seeing cataract / YAG consults, helping patients select the best IOL for their visual needs, triaging for the department, seeing urgent consults alongside our ophthalmologists as well as communicating with and educating patients. We are referring to this position as our optometrist “surgeon extender”.

This position is a 1.0 full-time equivalent position with four days a week in our 12 exam lane Salmon Creek office and one day a week in our 8 exam lane Camas office. We provide full-spectrum eyecare at both locations. This position affords the opportunity to have a great work/life balance with amazing colleagues and no weekend hours or call responsibilities.

The ideal candidate is an outgoing, hardworking, patient-oriented, team player with an excitement to practice evidence-based medicine in a collegial, cohesive group of MDs and ODs. They will be excited to work side-by-side with our ophthalmologists and capable of seeing 20 patients a day with the help of a dedicated ophthalmic technician. Preference will be given to candidates with residency training, 3+ years of experience and/or comfort with co-managing care. But newer grads that are quick learners and have excellent interpersonal skills are also encouraged to apply. Our ophthalmologists are enthusiastic teachers and are eager to provide mentoring and on-the-job training for the right long-term candidate.

This position comes with a comprehensive benefits package along with a salary of $155,000 / year.

We are rooted in Southwest Washington, located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. The area offers a variety of housing options from suburban neighborhoods, downtown high rises or rural locations with acreage.  We enjoy year round recreational opportunities, a flourishing craft brewery scene, wineries and tasty restaurants. Portland, Oregon, is nearby offering world-class food, a vibrant arts and theater scene, and numerous professional sports teams.  Plus, if you live in Washington, there is no state income tax.

We recognize that each person’s unique experience, identity, and perspective advances our ability to deliver the best possible care to our patients. We encourage candidates of every background to apply to join our team.

If interested, please reach out with your CV to Evan Olson, our ophthalmology department chair.

Practice for Sale - Pullman, WA

Long Term private practice looking to partner with optometric physician wanting to purchase.

Pullman Vision Source
James P DeVleming, O.D.
238 East Main Street
Pullman WA, 99163
509-334-1131
askdrdev@gmail.com
text/cell: 509-595-8515

Pullman Vision Source was started by my father in 1959 and I took over and have continued to grow the practice since 1990. We became members of Vision Source in 2000 and continue to partner with them to provide the highest quality vision and eye care in the area. After doing what I love, caring for patients, for many years, it is time to slow down and look for someone with a passion for optometry and patient care to sell to.

We provide vision as well as advanced eye care (which will continue to change now that Washington has passed scope expansion) to patients of all ages, using the latest equipment including OCT, retinal imaging, advanced visual fields and topography. We work closely with co-management centers like Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute as well as others to make sure our patients receive the best care. Our optical has around 500 frames and we fit all modalities of contact lenses from daily and monthly replacement soft lenses to RGPs, sclerals and keratoconic lenses.

Pullman is located in Eastern Washington on the Idaho border in the middle of the rolling hills of the Palouse. The fertile land surrounding our fine city grows wheat, lentils, garbanzo beans, canola, barley and peas. We grow so many lentils, we are the home of the annual National Lentil Festival, a weekend of fun where we celebrate all things agricultural with a parade, beer gardens, concerts and of course the Great Lentil Cook-off. Pullman is also home to Washington State University and our mighty Cougars. Having a fabulous University in our back yard assures entertainment from sports to concerts to libraries and museums of all types. WSU is known for many different schools but the WSU Veterinary school is world renown for its research and outstanding graduates providing care to all animals big or small, domestic or exotic. If your pet needs care, you literally can't find a better place. We also have miles and miles of paved trails and pathways for walks, biking, and all around exercising. And for anyone concerned about Pullman being "too small", our new airport terminal (five times the size of our current building) that goes into service in April connects you directly to Seattle and Boise daily and may soon have flights to Denver and Las Vegas. Spokane is about 75 miles north and Northern Idaho, home to Lake Coeur d'Alene, Sandpoint with Lake Pend Oreille and other great lakes and mountain resorts are just an hour or two away. Pullman has everything a young family could want with a safe, out standing school district and more fun than you can imagine.

Optometrist, Hourly, Western State Hospital - Lakewood, WA

Western State Hospital is in need of an Optometrist to perform refraction exams once or twice a month. The clinic has all the equipment needed for refraction exams. An Optician and an Ophthalmologist have clinics monthly. The Optometrist occasionally makes referrals to the Ophthalmologist and vice versa.

The clinic is flexible as far as what day of the week and what hours of the day. The Optometrist does not have to commit to a specific day, the schedule can fluctuate as long as it is not the same day as the Ophthalmologist since there is only one eye room.

Western State Hospital is a 750 bed psychiatric hospital. All patients are escorted to the clinic with a minimum of two staff. Patients with behavioral issues are not brought to the clinic. The Optometrist is never alone with the patient. The previous Optometrist worked at WSH for almost 20 years without incident. Most of the patients are adults, occasionally children from Child Study Treatment Center will be scheduled for eye examinations but the majority of the patients are adults.
