Stacie Nichols, O.D. of Davenport Named ‘Young Optometrist of the Year’ by the Optometric Physicians of Washington

Stacie Nichols, O.D. of Davenport was named 2005 - 2006 Young Optometrist of the Year by the Optometric Physicians of Washington (OPW) at their annual convention held May 10-13, 2006 in Spokane, Wash. She has been an active member of the OPW since 1996 and currently practices at Davenport Vision Source.
The Optometric Physicians of Washington (OPW) is the professional association of Washington State optometric physicians affiliated with the American Optometric Association (AOA). The OPW is comprised of 13 optometric societies throughout the state numbering approximately 560 optometric physicians.
The Young Optometrist of the Year award is given to one doctor of optometry each year that has been in practice less than ten years and has demonstrated service to his/her profession and to the communities in which he/she lives.
As an excellent eye care provider, active member of the AOA, and OPW (serving as Inland Society Treasurer for the last four years, the chairperson for the 2006 OPW convention), and as a founding member of a new co-op preschool in Davenport. Dr. Nichols strives to advance the profession of optometry and improve the visual care of her patients and community on a daily basis.
“I am very honored to be chosen by my peers for this award,” said Dr. Nichols. “I feel blessed to know that I have the privilege to work in the profession of optometry and with such esteemed colleagues.”
Dr. Nichols received her Doctor of Optometry degree in 1995 from the Pacific College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon.
Dr. Nichols frequently works to train school nurses how to provide more effective vision screenings, and has also lectured to several different local organizations regarding diabetic retinopathy and other eye conditions.
