Mira Swiecicki, O.D. of Lynden, Wash. was recently named President of the Optometric Physicians of Washington (OPW) at the OPW annual convention held in Spokane, Wash., May 10-13, 2006.  As president, Dr. Swiecicki will lead the OPW Board of Trustees, membership committees, staff, and general membership.

The Optometric Physicians of Washington (OPW) is the professional association of Washington State optometric physicians affiliated with the American Optometric Association. The OPW is comprised of 13 optometric societies throughout the state numbering 560 optometric physicians.

“Being President of the OPW allows the opportunity to lead the efforts of optometry in Washington. We are dedicated to advancing, improving and enhancing the vision care and eye health of the public and to promoting the continued development of the profession of optometry,” said Dr. Swiecicki. “Our association will continue to provide the best care and services possible by working with other health care providers and state legislators.”

Dr. Swiecicki practices at the Lynden Vision Clinic. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania and performed undergraduate studies at the University of Calgary in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Dr. Swiecicki has been an active member of the Optometric Physicians of Washington since 1996, serving in a variety of roles including Vice-President and Trustee.  

“I am honored to have this opportunity to lead the Optometric Physicians of Washington. We have so many dedicated professionals working throughout the state to provide patients the best in comprehensive eye care, and I feel privileged to serve them,” said Dr. Swiecicki.

The mission of the Optometric Physicians of Washington is to advance, improve and enhance the vision care and eye health of the public and to promote the continued development of the profession of optometry.
